"I am a single mom, working full time running a
small business. My daughter is the most important person in my life, my
main focus and priority. As much as I would like to volunteer for
school events and in-room activities, it is close to impossible for me
to do so. I was hesitant to attend PTSA meetings, thinking there might
be pressure for me to volunteer time and resources beyond my means. NOT
SO. I attended the September 1st meeting and I will be at every meeting
possible from this point forward. There is a calm understanding among
the current Board that people are busy, which became obvious during the
meeting. A form is available for volunteer opportunities. Beyond that,
there is no pressure. There is no feeling of "trying to keep of with
the Joneses", no feeling of competition to outshine another person or
family, but rather a strong sense of community and commitment, and a
blatant appreciation for the simple fact that people are coming together
to support our children and our school. The phrase "It takes a village
to raise a child" is the best euphemism that can be applied to the
philosophy of the Paseo Hills PTSA. I encourage you to attend at least
one meeting and see what great things we can accomplish together, with
our new Board, our new Principal, and our 2005/2006 commitment." _________________________________________________
"I really do feel like parent involvement is up
because they are used to being on our campus more now. It's a great
feeling as a teacher to know that parents to want to participate! Thank
you for all you have done." _________________________________________________
